The Port of Spain Corporation presented: An Evening of Appreciation and Prize Giving Ceremony on Wednesday 23rd August, 2006, to show appreciation for the efforts and the people involved in the production of the Miss City of Port of Spain 2006 Competition.
The evening, though scheduled to begin at 6pm, began after 7 with a welcoming address by Deputy Mayor, Councillor Rishi Lakhan on behalf of Mayor Murchison Brown. He congratulated Ms. Danielle Hamilton on her victory, along with the first and second runners up, Ms. Nikeisha Jones and Ms. Nicola Sammy-Ifill respectively, as well as the other delegates. He jokingly admitted that he could not judge such a contest because it would have been extremely difficult to choose winners among the gorgeous bunch. He also commended the high level of wit of the contestants which he said was evident in the Question and Answer segment of the pageant. He then went on to congratulate Councillor Neubun Clarke and the organizing committee of the Ms. City of Port of Spain event and all others involved behind the scenes.
Chairman of the Festivals Committee, Mr. Neubun Clarke in his speech said that he was proud to be part of this event and felt justified in the decision to move the pageant from the confines of City Hall to the Crowne Point Plaza. He thanked the hard working committee that assisted the pageant and admitted that they were especially responsible for molding it to become the success it was.
The prize-giving ceremony soon followed and the special prizes were as follows:
Best Creative Folk Wear - Ezra Bailey
Best Elegance - Nicola Ifill
Miss Personality / Intelligence - Nikeisha Jones
Designer of Best Evening Gown - Ms. Elizabeth Lucas

Designer of the Best Couture - Sean Edwards
All delegates received Sacha cosmetic vouchers, hampers for National Flour Mills and Certificates of Participation courtesy the Port of Spain Corporation.
Following the giving out of these prizes, was the distribution of the prizes for the Miss City of Port of Spain 2006. They all, the first and second runners up and Miss City of Port of Spain, received a great variety of gifts including cash prizes, mobile phones, jewelry and dinners at top-notch hotels and restaurants in the country.
Mr. Richard Young, one of the main producers of the pageant was then asked to give a speech. He intimated that he was proud to work with the Port of Spain City Corporation committee, with the Councillors, with the delegates and with the designers who he praised for their detailed craftsmanship in their designs and their hard work and long hours that they put in to the show. He also boldly announced in the spirit of optimism that the Ms. City of Port of Span has grown to become a rival pageant in the country and that he was proud to be a part of it.
The final remarks for the evening was given by Ms. City of Port of Spain 2006, Danielle Hamilton who said that the event was exciting and memorable and that the experience was life changing. She also thanked all including Richard Young who provided the encouragement and support that she needed.
