Photographic Exhibition of Chinese Medical Team in Trinidad and Tobago
On Friday 5th May, 2015, the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago in league with the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) launched a photographic exhibition of the Chinese medical team who are currently working in the medical field in the country.
NWAC National Calypso Queen Competition 2015
On the 19th January, 2015, the National Women’s Action Committee held its annual Calypso Queens Competition, most fittingly, at the Queen’s Hall in St. Ann’s. As guests arrived decked in their finery, the artistes prepared to battle on the stage for the title of Calypso Queen 2015.
Kaiso House Calypso Tent Judging Night 2015
The atmosphere in Kaiso House on 27th January, 2015, was electric. Patrons swarmed to their seats in the cooled confines of the auditorium, and as the sound men checked the system, singers psyched themselves up for the evening of competition ahead.
N.A.C.C. Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition 2015
On the 2nd February, 2015, the Grand Stand in the Queen’s Park Savannah filled with kaiso enthusiasts who vied for the best seats from which to view the Young King’s Calypso Competition 2015. The show was dedicated to late culture activist and NJAC stalwart Brother Bankole and banners were hung on the stage blazed with the words “In Tribute to Brother Bankole.”
Launch of the T&T National Committee on Reparations (TTNCR)
The Reparations Committee of Trinidad and Tobago held the formal launch of the agenda on Saturday June 13th, 2015 at the Daaga Auditorium at UWI St Augustine. Klassic Ruso Calypso Tent Judging Night 2015
On Thursday 22nd January, 2015, the cry of “Kaiso Kaiso!” rang out in the auditorium of Issa’s Restaurant and Pub as the Klassic Ruso Calypso Tent opened its doors to thirty competitors in the calypso arena. As the artistes readied for the show, some of the patrons took the time to share their personal experiences and enjoyment in the tent over the years.
Posse 67 Children’s Day 2015
On Saturday 18th July, 2015, Posse 67, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s recognized volunteer organizations hosted their Children’s Day event in Port of Spain. The day’s activities included a visit to the Emperor Valley Zoo on Zoo Road, Port of Spain, lunch at the Port of Spain Girl Guides Headquarters and a visit to the Hilton Hotel ending the days proceedings with a Nelson Mandela birthday celebration.
TUCO/WESCU Karaoke Competition 2014
The NU Pub, formerly the Mas Camp Pub, was alight with excitement on November 14th 2014, for the TUCO/WESCU first National Karaoke Competition. The audience comprised friends and family of contestants, members and supporters of Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Association (TUCO) and members of TUCO’s executive.
Calypso Fiesta 2015
On Saturday 7th March, 2015, the day dawned fiercely bright under a cloudless sky and the kaiso faithful gathered once more on the green sprawl of Skinner Park to partake in Calypso Fiesta2015. “High Noon!” shouted one man. “We ready! We ready!” chanted others.
