With the guests sampling the tea and finger-food, the fashion show started on time at exactly 4 p.m. (certainly a rare occurrence). From this excellent start, the first models featured designs from Larry Rampersad, some of which were fashioned in the national colours of red, white and black, under the theme "From Independence to Republic - Fashionably Patriotic". The male and female models strutted confidently to the beat of the various songs as they modeled Rampersad's clothes. The designs varied from body-hugging dresses and elegant gowns for the females, to somber fashions worn by male models. The clothes was not the only area in which the national colours were featured as some of the models sported red, white and black painted faces and masks.
