The Miss Curvaceous Caribbean Princess Pageant was held at City Hall in Port of Spain on the 22nd November, 2007. Organised by Charlene Modeste, this pageant featured nine young ladies vying for top honors before an enthusiastic audience of family, friends and well wishers.
Introducing themselves before the judges and the audience were Wendy Ann Pompey, Charissa Modeste, Shenesse Richardson, Maurene Wilson, Donna Marie Beech, Raylecia Davis, Jamilla Alleyne and Elisha Connell; all dressed in elegant soft pink dresses. The judges for the evening were Arlene Harris, Lester Rauseo, Aneil Sonar, Lyndon Ross, Nicole Sammy-Ifill and Christopher Nathan.
Contestant Jamilla Alleyne
After the introductory segment came the talent segment, which allowed the nine Miss Curvaceous Caribbean Princess 2007 contestants to showcase their unique talents. Jamila Alleyne treated the audience to a lively monologue; Charissa Modeste recited an excerpt from Khahlil Gibran's poetic book "The Prophet"; Maureene Wilson showed her vocal talents with a rendition of a popular Celine Dion song; Wendy Ann Pompey sang a spicy Latin flavoured song; Raylecia Davis did a dynamic Belaire-inspired dance; Elisha Connell, dressed in a queenly lion-patterned outfit, did a rendition of Vanessa Williams's "Colours of the Wind" and Donna Marie Beach did a creative skit about a destitute girl which emphasized the pitfalls of delinquency.
Contestant Shenesse Richardson
All of the performances were well-received by the audience, however, it was petite Shenesse Richardson who really shone as she performed a creative, multi-faced and sizzling dance that started in a rhythmic African style, then morphed into an East Indian dance, then into a Shakira-inspired Latin American style dance and finally ending in a Soca dance, to the soundtrack of a popular Destra song. For this excellent performance, which was thunderously appreciated by the audience, Shenesse would later be presented with the Best Talent Award. It was not only the delegates who would show their talent on the night, as a dance group from Trinity Secondary School entertained the audience to a Hip Hop dance.
The formal wear segment followed the talent segment, and the audience loudly cheered as the young ladies individually showcased their elegant evening gowns. After this segment the judges presented their choices of the five finalists who would face a round of questions to determine the final winner. The five finalists were Wendy Ann Pompey, Shenesse Richardson, Maurene Wilson, Donna Marie Beech and Jamilla Alleyne.
