I remember all them pigeons

I remember all them pigeons, that church was full of them. I was always lookin out for them, thinking they might s**t on my head. The real fun was the after school battles, as this yard connected to our school yard.

RE; Good Ole St. Agnes

I remember using my new hat to catch fish in the font at the front of the church, I have to ask forgiveness for using my collection to buy Smarties. I can still remember getting my ears pinched fr not sittin stii during the Easter Litany. But I must say it held up well I wander if my chewing gum was is still under the 3rd pew?

St.Agnes Church

The good old St. Agnes Church. The church where I was Baptized and Confirmed. The church where Rev. Buxo and Nurse taught us cathesism. When Harvest time came around all the students from Franklin would past from the back of the school to the side entrance of the church. Where the great pipe organ would rumble before the commencement of the Hymns. Where the pigeons were always on the roof. Where religously my brothers, sister and I would attend every Sunday morning and where to this day I can remember most of the hymns from the common prayer book...word for word. My youngest sister tells me the bell no longer tolls...sad for it helped us know what time it was for the services and when the funerals were about to leave and walk on the main road. before going down Nizam street. Yes Sir, St. Agnes Church was an essential part of the daily life of all Anglicans who resided in St James in the 50's and sixties. It takes a village to mold and raise a child and St. Agnes played it's part in my life and...
