Bomber moved to Trinidad in 1956 and began his career as a calypsonian. He won his first calypso contest in 1957 at the Radio Trinidad 10th Anniversary competition. His first hit came in 1958 with "Gloria," which was later recorded by the famous American singer Harry Belafonte.

I live in NY but i am very familiar with the community, i am proud to say my family lives 2 houses away from these watertanks and so did I...when I was a child we called it the crownland back then......it is a great landmark and should remain part of Picton's historic sites...

Straker village has the best and most peaceful view and should be the most peaceful village in the whole of trinidad, and from what i hear that is not so.

Mr. Straker 1907-2000, a veteran of Laventille, after whom Straker Village was named because he built the first hut there.
