Tonight we are at the Barataria home of deceased Lewicito "Cito" Velasquez where family and friends have gathered to celebrate his life. Mr. Velasquez passed away on 8th April 2006, at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. Cito was a master in the art of wire-bending. He was responsible for most of the changes that took place in the Fancy Sailor Mas, an area he dominated for many years. Cito spent many years building and designing his Mas from his Barataria home, a place where many of his friends and family would always remember.
Many of the Veteran Masmen and younger people who are here tonight have contributed tremendously to our culture. Friends and acquaintances from the neighbourhood and surrounding areas have already started coming to pay their respect, and to participate in the traditional Wake Ceremony. Tonight, we will be chatting with some of the people who are eager to share their memorable experiences with Cito.
