Glendon Morris

More on the legendary father of Glendon Morris, Ken Morris:
Kenwyn Arlotson Morris was born on March 11, 1924, on Duke Street in Port of Spain; the fifth of six children of Maude and Robert Morris, an artistic couple from whom he learnt the Carnival arts.He practically taught himself the art of copper repoussé (hammering copper into relief from the reverse side) though he studied it briefly at Goldsmith College, London. Like many Trinidadians of his era, he was very versatile and had several interests: he was a pianist, a trade unionist and also painted in oils, giving up canvases when someone told him that his style resembled that of a particular English artist.

My name is Odette Machado used to be Odette Hamilton. I lived across the street from Glendon Morris and his family.
Very Cool People.
I am living in the U.S.A.for many years, and have not seen the Morris' since 1975.
I have not been to T&T since 2000, and the last T&T carnival I went to was in 1975 "Mas in May" I played in Ken Morris Band. I had the greatest time.
Looking back, I remember one day I had to do an art project for elementary school, I couldnt draw a thing, so I was stuck. Glendon Morris took my drawing book and painted a parrot for me. I had no idea he could draw, so after running around outside, I returned and was stunned at the beautiful picture de did, it looked so real, and colorful.
Needless to say it was a hit in class.
Today, I saw Glendon's page on the Web and I am happy to give a comment
"glendon, your work is the best I have not seen any art as Great as yours"
Love and Regards to you and your family from Odette and the Hamilton Family
